It is well known that green surroundings improve a sense of wellbeing and stimulate feelings of optimism. The calming effects of this front garden are palpable. An avenue of Manchurian Pears under-planted with squares of clipped Asiatic Jasmine lead to the front door (with the Pears being repeated on the side boundary to frame the lawn). To soften the design, alternating squares of Irises and lavender have been added. We kept it that simple and it works year round.
